Plate Smash: how to aim a slingshot throw

The plate follows a real arc under gravity, so the line you see while dragging is a prediction, not a promise. Three things make the difference between clearing a shelf and wasting a plate.

The preview is a damped version of the real arc

The dotted line shows roughly where the plate will travel, but drag strength changes the curvature. A short, sharp pull gives a flat fast throw; a long, slow pull gives a high lob that drifts. Learn one throw style and stick to it rather than mixing both.

Clear the top shelf first

Objects on the top shelf are the easiest to hit and the hardest to reach later, because falling debris from the middle shelf blocks the flight path. Take the top row in the first fifteen seconds while the stack is clean.

Gold is a trap, sometimes

A gold vase is worth four normal plates, but it is usually placed at the end of a row where the arc has to pass through other objects. If hitting it costs you two missed throws, you have lost more than you gained. Take it only when it is on the near side of the shelf.

The reliable shot

Pull back roughly a third of the maximum distance and aim one object-height above your target. That combination clears the shelf edge and lands on the second row consistently — it is the shot to fall back on when a round starts going wrong.
