METAL / VARIANT
XV Sudoku
X marks ten, V marks five.
Click a cell, then a digit. Arrow keys move, 1–9 place, Backspace clears.
Rules
An X between two cells means those digits add up to 10. A V means they add up to 5. Everything else is ordinary sudoku — in this version only the marked pairs are constrained.
- X: the pair sums to 10.
- V: the pair sums to 5.
- Unmarked adjacent pairs have no constraint.
- Only 1-4 and 2-3 make five, so a V is a strong clue for low digits.
Good to know
Ordinary sudoku rules still apply underneath the variant: every row, column and 3×3 box holds 1–9 exactly once. The extra rule sits on top and is usually what breaks the puzzle open.
