PAPER / VARIANT
Palindrome Sudoku
Read a grey line either way and the digits match.
Click a cell, then a digit. Arrow keys move, 1–9 place, Backspace clears.
Rules
A palindrome line reads the same forwards and backwards. A five-cell line like 4-1-7-1-4 is legal; 4-1-7-2-4 is not. The middle cell of an odd-length line is unconstrained by the palindrome itself.
- Digits mirror around the centre of each marked line.
- Odd-length lines pin their centre digit to itself — no new information, only a fixed point.
- Even-length lines force pairs of equal digits.
- A palindrome can contain repeats by design; sudoku rules still apply across the grid.
Good to know
Ordinary sudoku rules still apply underneath the variant: every row, column and 3×3 box holds 1–9 exactly once. The extra rule sits on top and is usually what breaks the puzzle open.
